After getting complaints from several areas of the society, on Wednesday Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has banned a famous online multiplayer game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG). According to the statement of authority,

“The PTA has received numerous complaints against PUBG wherein it is stated that the game is addictive, wastage of time and poses a serious negative impact on the physical and psychological health of the children.”

Moreover, it added that according to several media reports many suicide cases were attributed to PUBG game.

Honourable Lahore High Court has also instructed PTA to investigate the issue and make a decision for this matter after hearing the complaint. A hearing is being conducted on the 9th of July 2020 for that purpose.

The top telecommunication authority of the country also decides to solicit views of the public regarding the said online game. Moreover, it added, “from that perspective public is promoted to give feedback through consultation-pubg@pta.gov.pk by July 10, 2020.”
